London Marathon 2025

Created by Julie 27th April 2025

Story

I am running the London Marathon in April 2025 for Saint Francis Hospice in memory of my Nan. Nan used many of the hospices services including tea and talk at Toby's, the cancer support group in Brentwood, the creative therapy group at the day centre and spent her final weeks in the hospice receiving the very best care and support. I now work for Saint Francis Hospice and am lucky enough to witness the outstanding care that is provided 24/7. This year I managed to win a ballot place for the London marathon and so I decided to fundraise for this special place. Only 32% of the cost of running the hospice and all it's services is funded by the NHS. We need to raise more than £8Million in voluntary income each year. I'd be so grateful if you could support my marathon journey to ensure the hospice is there for people who need it in the future. Please give as generously as you can!

Updates

Week 2 of my 1 week plan and fundraising

14th January 2025
Hey everyone, a quick update...I have been blown away by the generosity of so many of you! Thank you so much for your donations to this very worthy cause. My nan would be so proud to know that so many of my friends and family are supporting me, and supporting the hospice that provided outstanding care for her. Training is good currently, after a busy festive season, I'm doing dry Jan and that is certainly helping with the training plan! Each week I have x3 runs, strength and conditioning and some other cross training activity. I'm trying to fit a swim in, to give my legs a rest. This week my long run is 80 minutes. Thanks once again for supporting my marathon journey, and most importantly for helping remember by nan, Shirley.
